I had been experiencing discomfort in my arms and torso and an excruciating pain shot through my body. It felt like someone reached into my chest and started squeezing my heart. I felt nauseous and my left arm was tingling. At that moment, I realized, I was having a heart attack. Luckily, I was already at St. Clair Medical when my heart stopped. The hospital staff took immediate action and saved my life. While in the hospital, the entire team at St Clair Medical had compassion and everyone was more than willing to take time to listen to my questions and concerns. They assured me everything was going to be alright, but it would take some time. I close my eyes every day and revel in thanksgiving because for another day, I am my daughter’s father, my wife’s husband, a piece of the puzzle that is my family, a miracle…here… and present. I cannot express how grateful I am for the prompt care I received. Every member of the team went above and beyond for me and I THANK YOU.

There is no accurate means to predict the type of case that comes through the doors of the Accident and Emergency department at any moment. The prime responsibility of the emergency room staff is to deliver timely, compassionate care in a critical setting for a patient with an acute, often life threatening, illness, injury or trauma.
The Emergency team of on-site doctors who are granted admitting privileges; nurses, radiographers, lab technicians, support staff and customer service representatives. work quickly and efficiently to treat patients , offering critical care and treating a range of conditions and complaints, working to save the lives of those in life-threatening situations.Non-emergency problems are also attended to via our A&E department
The Emergency Team is supported by over 50 specialist physicians and surgeons who are on call around-the-clock. This means that the entire SCMC health care delivery platform is at your disposal should your emergency require surgery, intensive care, or specialized attention. You can access our Accident & Emergency Department through the entrance on St. Clair Avenue.
