Caribbean Heart Care (CHC) was established in 1993 in Trinidad and Tobago with the goal of making open heart surgery and advanced cardiac care accessible to patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases in Trinidad and Tobago and across the region.
Much of CHC’s success is attributable to the experience and expertise of our team of heart surgeons, cardiologists and interventionists. In addition to internationally trained and qualified local surgeons, we have worked with prominent international surgeons and cardiac specialists who have come to Trinidad from all over the world.
A fully computerised stress testing facility is also available. Echocardiography is available utilising the latest technology. We are also capable of performing transesophaegeal echocardiograph, which is important in the evaluation of patients with strokes, heart valve infections and diseases of the aorta.
Emergency cardiac evaluation, and emergency treatment of heart attack with clot dissolving agent (thrombolytic therapy), these services are available 24 hours a day.
Over the years, CHC developed a relationship with ASCARDIO Cardiovascular Institute in Venezuela and in September 2007, our institutions officially entered into a partnering agreement. ASCARDIO has more than 30 years of experience in cardiology services and an outstanding track record of having performed over 20,000 catheterizations and over 100,000 cardiac patient consultations. Our pairing with ASCARDIO puts Caribbean Heart Care in the unique position of being the only heart care institution locally and regionally to offer our cardiac patients 24-hour access to both heart surgery as well as cutting-edge cardiology services.
These procedures and others are available at CHC 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week. This is especially relevant in cases of cardiac emergency when immediate medical assessment and treatment significantly increases the chance of patient survival by minimizing muscle damage to the heart.
